We understand that you have traveled miles to make it to Pragyan and we're here to work towards ensuring that your stay here is pleasant throughout. Procedure

On registration, you will be given an ID card and welcome kit.
To apply for accommodation, please read the instructions carefully and proceed to fill up the online form.
You may register for a maximum of six individuals (including yourself).
You will be contacted directly via phone within 7 days of registration to confirm your accommodation.
You are requested to bring your college ID cards, and a printout of the acknowledgment mail when you come to NIT, Trichy.
Note: No event, other than Workshops, has any registration/participation fee.
Last date for accommodation registration is 15 February.

Rules

The Hospitality registration is separate from event registrations.
Hospitality is open only from February 25, 2010 at 0000 hrs to March 1, 2010 at 1200 hrs.
Accomodation to registered participants will be offered on a “First Register” basis.
Participants from Trichy/Tanjore are not eligible for hospitality.
Accomodation would be provided on a sharing basis.
Participants are requested to take care of their belongings during their stay at NIT, Trichy. Neither the Pragyan ’10 team nor the institute will be responsible for any loss of property.
Smoking and drinking is strictly prohibited inside the campus.
Any act of misbehavior inside the campus will be severely dealt with, leading to the immediate expulsion of the team/contingent (in question) from the campus and any future participation will be prohibited.
Any damage caused by the participants to institute property during their stay, will result in forfeiture of the caution deposit and/or recovery of the amount due to the damage; whichever is higher.
Last date for accommodation registration is 15 February 2010.

A list of hotels has been provided to aid participants who wish to avail accommodation outside NIT, Trichy. The hotels are all located in the city (20 kms. away from the campus). Bus service are available between the city and NIT, Trichy at fixed timings.

Trichy and NIT Trichy

Trichy is an ancient city of South India and it was capital of Chola & Naicka kings for many centuries, having a historical background. The battle between British ( East Indian Company) & French with the help of locals, decided the beginnings of British empire in southern part of India.

Trichy or Tiruchirappalli is well connected to Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu by bus, train as well as by Air. Frequently there are buses and trains from Coimbatore. Night travel is the best if travelling by train or by bus. The airport is located around 7 km from the Central Bus Stand, towards Pudukottai at Chembattu.

How to get to NIT Trichy

NIT Trichy is located about 22 km from Tiruchirapalli Junction / Central Bus Stand on the Trichy-Thanjavur Highway. The simplest and most economical way to reach NIT Trichy is by bus. Any city bus at the Tiruchirapalli Junction will take you to the Central Bus Stand. Board Thanjavur bound Mofussil or Route Bus. The journey time from Trichy will be around 45 minutes. The executive way of reaching NIT Trichy will be hiring a taxi. Taxis may charge around Rs. 350/-.

Trichy is connected by road to Chennai (320 km), Madurai (142 km) and to all major towns in South India by regular bus services. Tiruchirapalli is an important junction on the Southern Railway. It connects Madras, Thanjavur, Madurai, Tuticorin, Tirupati, Rameswaram, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Cochin and Mangalore. It has an international airport, and is connected with Chennai (Madras), Singapore, Colombo, Kuwait, Sharjah, Calicut. Indian Airlines connects Trichy with Chennai, Sharjah, Calicut Kuwait and Colombo. Air Lanka Service connects Tiruchirapalli with Colombo.

FAQ

What is the first thing to do after reaching the NITT campus?

Please report to the Public Relations & Hospitality Desk in front of the Institute clock tower. To complete your registration, participants will have to bring the printout of the acknowledgment e-mail that was sent. After that you will be provided accommodation in the campus. There will be a nominal fee for accommodation. There will also be a fully refundable security deposit which will be returned when you leave the campus.

What documents do I have to bring in order to participate or to avail accommodation?

You have to bring the printout of the acknowledgment e-mail in order to avail accommodation during Pragyan ’10. It is compulsory to carry your Institute Identity Card with you. No participant will be provided accommodation if they fail to show their Identity card. Also bring with you a passport size photo for our reference.

When and for how long can I avail accommodation?

Accommodation starts on 25 February, 0000 hrs and closes on 1 March, 1200 hrs. You will be required to vacate the room on or before 1000 hrs on 1 March.

Under special circumstances, accommodation may be extended.

Accommodation will be provided on a sharing basis.

Where do I eat?

The Pragyan Main Ground will have a lot of food stalls that will take care of your appetite. The Staff Canteen provides first-class food for nominal rates. The Buhari Canteen provides excellent variety to suit all cuisines. Classic Foods, a.k.a Snacky, sells a variety of Chinese dishes and chaat items. Raja Bakery is open to all those enthusiastic about breads, sweets etc. Besides Nescafe, Bru and Aavin outlets are also available in the campus.

What conduct is expected?

During Pragyan the normally quiet and calm campus is transformed into a vibrant hub with students from more than 230 colleges participating. It is expected of you to follow a proper code of conduct as you are the brand ambassadors of your respective colleges. Please refrain from hooliganism, indecent behaviour and rowdiness. If found indulging in any misconduct, the participant shall be asked to leave immediately along with his team/ contingent.

What about hospitals and pharmacies?

There is an Institute Hospital located in campus as well as a 24X7 Apollo Pharmacy. In case you require any medical assistance, you are advised to report to us at Public relations & Hospitality Desk. We shall make appropriate arrangements for you to be treated at the Institute hospital.

What about the security facilities?

NIT Trichy campus has a vigilant and round-the-clock security service. To ensure the safety of the participants, there will be additional security guards in hostels in order to avoid thefts and other mishaps. However, in rare cases of any mishappenings, the Pragyan '10 team will not be held responsible for the same. Participants are requested to take care of their belongings.

How do I check out?

For checking out, you need to inform the Public Relations & Hospitality Desk. Accommodation volunteers will be present at various halls at pre-assigned times who will check that the room assigned to you is intact condition as it was allotted to you. Only after that the security deposits will be refunded by the Public relations & Hospitality Desk.

Are there ATMs inside the campus?

There are 2 SBI ATMs inside the campus. There is also an ICICI Bank ATM at BHEL Township (~3 kms from campus, with good bus connectivity to the NIT-T Campus).

I haven't filled the accommodation form and now the registration for accommodation is closed. What should I do now?

In this case you can come over to NITT, if you have a friend with whom you can put up with or if you can afford outside accommodation, details of which have been provided.
