This event is just for you!
Then this is just the event for you. Probably you should be knowing about the Shell, yes you will be. For those without a clue, let's simply say Shell is where all those Linux Commands are typed out.
The Shell is powerful. Powerful enough to do anything. But then, how should 'anything' be defined?
'Crack the Shell' is all about solving simple day to day tasks on your computer through the terminal.
This is an online event
The event consists of 3 rounds.
All rounds are eliminative. The top teams in each round qualify to the next.
Round 1:
Hello world!
Questions will be posted on the website. The contestants are expected to solve them and submit them in pdf format to cracktheshell@pragyan.org specifying team name in the mail
Questions will be online from Thursday, 10th Feb. 00:00 HRS. Contestants are to submit their solutions by Friday, 11th Feb. 23:59 HRS
Round 2:
Online quiz
Duration: 60min
Details will be uploaded after Round 1.
Round 3:
Survival of the Fittest.
Enough of commands, now lets get down to business. We sometimes face some task during our day to day use of Linux. Say, like removing the “New Folder” virus from your flash drive, or copying all types of media files from your flash drive to your hard drive. It's best if you got a script that does the trick. It saves you from the effort of going through each and every folder hunting files.
Yes, GUI alternatives exist, but we just love the Shell. We expect you to use it and unveil it's power.

- A team can consist of a maximum of 2 members.
- A team can consist of participants from different Institutions.
- No participant can be in more than one team. Being so leads to disqualification of both the teams.
