Pragyan's first International outreach,Pragyan Young Minds Inter-school Quiz, was held on 16th December’13 at the EtisalatAcademy, Dubai and witnessed a clash of over 50 competitive teams from all over the U.A.E. The quiz was organised by Pragyan, the ISO certified technical organization of National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli as a part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the institute. This event is an attempt to promote and foster a co-existential relationship between Man and Technology. For a decade, Pragyan has worked tirelessly towards this goal, by churning out nine memorable editions, each of which has enlightened, encouraged and inspired an entire generation of engineers.Sponsored by Emirates Gas in association with Knowledge Planet, Score Plus and Almarai, the quiz was attended by over a hundred students. The first position was bagged by Melissa Rego and Aneena Moncy from OOEHS Dubai, followed closely by Sreeradh Radhakrishnan and Kushal Mohnot from Abu Dhabi Indian School. The third place was secured by Ronnel Davis and George Zacharia from OOEHS Sharjah.For the first ever outreach programme outside India, the event was a huge success and will be the stepping stone for many more in the future.
Pragyan, in association with the MBS Group, an Indian management consulting firm with expertise in educational training, conducted a workshop "SRISHTI-2" on Mobile Controlled and Autonomous Robotics in Hyderabad on 21st and 22nd of December 2013. With Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT) as the host college and with participation of about 250 enthusiastic students from engineering colleges all across Andhra Pradesh, the workshop turned out to be a huge success.
Over two days, the workshop was conducted in four sessions - introduction to basic electronics, introduction to micro-controllers, introduction to DTMF decoder ICs and designing a mobile phone controlled robot. The event had a mix of theoretical lessons and hands-on bot building sessions. The participants were provided with a very robust multi-purpose bot-development kit which enabled them to build their own bot by deploying their own logic. Students were also very appreciative of the fact that the kit could be doubled-up as a starting point to build most of their engineering projects.
The air was thick with shared passion for robotics. The sessions were interactive and along the way, participants played an active role in coming forward to demonstrate what they learnt. The workshop was designed in a manner so as to enable participants to pick-up the nuances of programming easily, and hence, at the end of two days, every team had built a fully-functioning mobile phone controlled robot of its own. Feedback received from participants was positive, with most of them saying that the workshop had kindled in them a sustained interest in robotics and electronics.
The enthusiasm levels of participants were a perfect supplement to that of the organizers making the workshop a memorable one.
