EVENT DESCRIPTION:
To all those design and racing freaks, the time has come for the gala event to show your talents in aero-modelling and drone racing.
This is the ultimate combat of competence. It is a battle that tests the limits of aerodynamics. All it takes is to fabricate a quadcopter whose speed, maneuverability and design will be tested, along with its handling on various tracks.
Prizes worth INR 60000
PRELIMS

FORMAT:
STAGE1
Participants have to mail an abstract of their quad design in a specified format before 25th Feb, 2018 . The format of abstract can be downloaded from here.
Deadline Extended till 25th February 2018.
To submit your abstract:
1. Click 'Upload Abstract' which will lead you to a new page.
2. Exercise the provision to upload files on the new page.
3. With that, your submission of abstract is complete.
STAGE2
Round 0:
-
Basic maneuverability of the quad will be checked such as the control on the quad and the lift of the quad (Includes take off, landing and taking turn etc..,).
-
This round is to ensure that they can safely control their quad and to prevent any mis- happenings in the further rounds. This is an eliminative round and those who are able to perform simple manoeuvers(control on quad) will move on to next round.
-
This round will take place during Pragyan 2018.
Round 1:
-
In this round, the quad is made to move in a circular track and should push a sponge ball with the thrust created by the quad rotors for a specified time. The number of laps made by the Quad by pushing the ball will be considered for the qualification of the team to the final round.
-
This would also be an eliminative round and only top eight participants will be selected to the next round.
-
It will happen during Pragyan 2018; right after the Round 0.
Round 2: (Design, Quality and Maneuverability)
-
In this round the design standard of the quadcopter will be evaluated.
-
Participant have to maneuver the Quad through the obstacles with the given standard payload (Obstacle Clearance with Payload).
-
They have to traverse the path and return to the starting point without touching any obstacles and the time taken for doing so will be noted.
-
Each quad will be given two chances to complete the round and the best of the two will be taken into consideration.
-
It will happen during Pragyan 2018.
Note:- Stay tuned to the website for the schedule.
JUDGING CRITERIA:
Round 1:
-
The time taken by the participants to complete the task will be taken into account and scores will be given accordingly.
-
Negative points shall be awarded if the quad touches the ground.
-
The drone needs to push a light sponge ball from the starting point and should make laps till the specified time gets completed.
Round 2:
-
Points will be given on the basis of the time taken to complete the task. Lesser the time taken, more the points awarded.
-
In case of a tie, the RC skills of the team shall be taken into account.
-
Even the scores from the previous round may be taken into account to determine the winner in case of ties.
-
Negative points will be offered if at any point of time the payload is dropped anywhere other than the finish line.
-
Further negative points will be awarded if the quad touches the ground except for some pre-determined spots for that purpose alone.
-
Hitting any obstacle in the track will incur a penalty.
-
If the drone moves outside the track, points will be deducted as penalty.
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
To fabricate a Quad-Copter that will be tested for its speed, maneuverability and handling on various tracks. The participant is required to build a RC quadcopter.
FAQs:
Q1. Is it a maximum of 5 people or strictly a team of 5?
Ans: It’s a maximum of 5, but no extra credits for teams with fewer participants.
Q2. Are UG-PG collaboration teams and cross college teams allowed?
Ans: Yes. However participants must be students enrolled in a university/college.
Q3. Is there any registration fee ?
Ans: No, except for registration in Pragyan, no special fee is required.
