Dr Spyridon Michalakis

Dr Spyridon "Spiros" Michalakis is a quantum physicist and staff researcher at CalTech. He worked on the movies Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, and Avengers: Endgame as a scientific consultant. He is the writer of the TV film ‘Quantum is Calling’ and the short film ‘Anyone Can Quantum’ featuring Zoe Saldana and Paul Rudd. He is presently a member of The Science and Entertainment Exchange, which advises movies and TV producers on integrating accurate science in scripts.

An MIT alumnus with a PhD in Applied Mathematics, he has several theoretical research papers to his name. Along with Matthew Hastings, a researcher at Microsoft, he solved the "Quantum Hall effect" problem which was first proposed in 1999 as one of 13 significant unsolved problems of mathematical physics. He also curates the IQM blog, Quantum Frontiers.
