Science lives with us in every moment of our lives. Just within one's range of sight, science and its application, technology can be observed in every inch. At Pragyan, we give you an opportunity to capture technology’s uniqueness in High Definition.

High Definition

Photography isn’t just an art powered by technology, it is also an innovative medium to discover and capture the scientific phenomena omnipresent around us. In this celebration of technology, we present High Definition, Pragyan’s photography contest that wants people to see the world through your definitions of technology.

Our Pattern

Preliminary Round

This will be an eliminative round for the event. Participants can submit a maximum of three photographs for the round, based on any scientific phenomena along with brief descriptions of the photographs captured.

Final Round

This includes two non‐eliminative levels. The submissions should include photos along with relevant description to justify the uniqueness of the picture. The topics for these levels will be announced after the deadline of previous rounds. The points scored by participant in each level will be added and the cumulative score will be the sole judgement criteria.

Note: The pictures need not display breakthroughs in science and technology, but simple day‐to‐day life phenomenon too can be described in scientific ways. So instead of searching for science to capture in a photograph, try to discover science in the photos you capture.
The judgement will be based on both the photograph and the description provided, so do include a write‐up about the scientific uniqueness of the photograph.

Prizes

Special Prize

Entries will be put up in the official Facebook page and Instagram handle of Pragyan after the initial short listing based on the relevance to the theme. The participant who gets the highest number of likes on Facebook and instagram in the preliminary round will receive a special prize.

Judge's Prize

The top 3 contestants with highest cumulative scores at the end of final round will be awarded prizes in the order: Winner, First Runner‐up and Second Runner‐up. All the top entries will be judged by Mr. Chandrashekhar Singh. Top winners may get an opportunity to intern with Pixelscapes. The top winners and the shortlisted participants will be getting $75 worth 500px accounts with full access.

The winning photographs will be featured in Inspiro India and Smart Photography magazines.
Free 3 month subscription to Ezine on Magzter for all participants.

Details

The photo size should not exceed 8 MB.
There shouldn’t be any watermarks, logos, names or signatures on the photograph.
All images should be in JPEG format only.
The minimum resolution of the pictures must be 3 Mega Pixels.
The EXIF data of the photograph must remain intact.
Post processing of the pictures is allowed, but changes like modifications to background will lead to disqualification.
If processed, the original for the post-processed image should also be submitted.
The description of the photograph(s) cannot exceed 150 words and should be provided in a word document with the same title as the photo.

No restrictions on the type of camera that can be used.
The copyrights of the pictures will stay with the photographer. However, Pragyan reserves the right to use the pictures for publicity or other activities.
Photographs in one round cannot be used as entries for other stages.
Under no circumstance will entries once submitted be taken back for modifications.
The judges and the organizers reserve the right to cancel or vary the position awarded in case of any discrepancies.
The judges’ decision is final. No discussion or correspondence will be entertained regarding the same.
Participants are not allowed to tag people on the photographs when it is uploaded on Facebook by the organizers.
Anyone not adhering to the rules will be disqualified without prior notice.

This is an INDIVIDUAL event and is open for ALL.
Entries with offensive or inappropriate content will be disqualified.
The photographs submitted must be a genuine, original work of the participant
Except for the preliminary round, the photographs must be taken on or after the date of announcement of the individual rounds.
The copyrights of the pictures will stay with the photographer. However, Pragyan reserves the right to use the pictures for publicity or other activities.
