Are you keen on what makes a product successful, do you know how the product cycle works from A to Z. Do you know what happens when technology, management, and engineering come together? We will be deconstructing real-world everyday problems we face and examining their features, user experience, and overall strategy. Participants will be required to break down the problem, identify pain points, and ideate and prioritize features according to the assigned problem statement. Whether you’re a technology enthusiast, entrepreneur, developer, designer, innovator, or a clueless young mind exploring, this event is for you.

• There will be a problem statement assigned to you.
• One mentor would be assigned to each group to help with the flow.
• The flow:
  • Breaking down the problem and defining success metrics
  • Market Research - Competitors
  • User Segmentation
  • User Journeys (explain the isolation of pain points)
  • Thinking of Solutions
  • Prioritising Solutions
• An example teardown will be explained thoroughly using the above flow.
• Post that, 75 minutes will be given to work on the problem statement and present the solutions.

• Participants should be presented offline and must strictly abide by the time limit.
• Each team consists of 3 to 5 members. Individual registrations can be done and groups will be formed on the spot.
• The judge’s decision is final and binding.
• The solution must be presented to the jury and will be questioned on their product.
• Can use the help of the internet for secondary research.
• Submissions must meet all requirements mentioned in the problem statements.
• The mentor’s guidance can be used but not mandatory to abide by it.
• Technical or UI/IX knowledge is not required to participate.
• All participants completing the challenge will be getting e-certificates from The Product Folks NIT Trichy.

Points will be awarded on:

• Feasibility: Is it easily implementable adhering to the current scenario?
• Clarity: Are the solutions well aligned and solve the problem faced?
• Structure: Are all the aspects considered while reaching to the solution?
• Research: How far is your understanding of the industry and market knowledge?
• Scalability: How can this solution be extended to multiple areas and evolve?

Feedback will be shared with all the teams and suggestions presented on how can we improve it.

• Do I need to know any metrics or product frameworks before the event?
  No, we will judge you based on your thinking and will suggest suitable frameworks on the spot. We will assist you throughout the process.
• What will I gain by participating in the tear-down if I am only interested in Software and other roles?
  This teardown will teach you structured thinking to approach any problem-solving techniques which will help in all your interview questions from management to software roles. It is solving problems using technical solutions.
• Are there any technical prerequisites to take part in the event?
  No, there are no prerequisites for participation. Creative thinking and problem-solving is enough to participate.
• Is there any software/hardwar to be installed prior to the event?
  No software needs to be installed prior to the event. Laptops are necessary to bring.
