About the Speaker
From Classical electrodynamics to Elementary Particle Theory, for over two decades the work of David Griffiths has been an inspiration to students all over the world. A U.S. physicist and educator, he has worked at Reed College since 1978, where he is currently the Howard Vollum Professor of Science, Emeritus.
Dr. Griffiths is principally known as the author of three highly regarded textbooks for undergraduate physics students: Introduction to Elementary Particles, Introduction to Quantum Mechanics and Introduction to Electrodynamics. Added to his accomplishments is the Robert A. Millikan award reserved for "those who have made outstanding scholarly contributions to physics education".
A physicist whose commitment has shown no bounds, Dr. Griffiths has managed to illuminate the subject's intrinsic interest, beauty and power through his engaging lectures.
