About Sangam

An intra-collegiate technical competition, Sangam is a platform for engineering enthusiasts to come together to work on an idea and endeavour relentlessly to make it come alive. It stands as an arena for innovation, technological brilliance and most of all, an opportunity to build the future.

Phase Overview

Sangam is divided into three phases, each with their own set of criteria:

Phase I – Abstract submission

The deadline for abstract submission is December 25, 2020. The end result must be presentable during Pragyan as a working model or a demonstration. Projects will be judged based on novelty, significance to the problem, relevance to the theme and other factors. Shortlisted candidates will be notified after the abstracts are reviewed.

Phase II - Mentorship

Teams whose projects are selected will have to find a mentor of their choice to guide them through the project.
There will be two progress reviews. The first will be a presentation in front of a panel with all the team members, and the second will be presenting the final working model. The products for the reviews must be ready by February 28, 2021.

Phase III - Exhibiting during Pragyan

The final working project will be presented during Pragyan ‘21 and be judged by domain experts and industry veterans through an interactive session between them and the participants. The winning team will be decided by adding up checkpoint scores and final scores during Pragyan ‘21. The students should present their projects with the integrated business models for the scoring process.

Energy
and
Environment

When our minds hear, “Energy and Environment”, the first and foremost thing that comes to our mind are the various aspects of nature. As an important factor for the reason of life as a whole, building on technology under this bracket will help improve the quality of living. Often technology built under this domain aims to forge a sustainable future. This theme can be broadened to encapsulate things like engineering products that involves different forms of energy, projects associated with air, water and food, ventures that work towards clean and renewable energy, waste management systems and so on.

Health Care
and
Life Sciences

Medical technology has grown to grant people lives, almost twice as long as they used to be a mere century ago. Yet, despite the boost in health care technology, we cannot hope to protect ourselves from all directions indefinitely. It has matured and will keep maturing, with our minds as the catalyst. In spite of a surge over the last few decades, we still face a multitude of challenges in the field of medicine. This theme can include topics like: smart monitoring systems, controlling spread of epidemics, assistance to disabled and old-age people, biomedical research, solutions for prevention and cure of diseases like cancer and tuberculosis by early stage detection and affordable medical services for everyone.

Defence And Industrial Technology

With the first theme tackling humanity as a whole, and the second focusing on the individual, this third theme focuses on the country. Marching in the steps of a global leader, defence is as important as any other investment made by a nation. Defence could include any topic from autonomous systems, surveillance, devices that could come in aid for the army, navy, air force to cyber security. The manufacturing sector, also being one of the core contributors to the economy, industrial technology can include topics like disruptive technologies to scale manufacturing, support for small-scale industries, innovation in processes and productivity tools for industries .

Finale

Rules

The competition is exclusively for NITT students.
A team must have 4 to 6 members.
The project idea must fit into only one of the three themes.
A single individual may not be a part of more than one team.
Plagiarism will strictly not be encouraged.
The decision of the judges is deemed final and binding.

Note: Finalists of Sangam'20 can join this year with the same product directly in the second Progress Review if atleast 4 of the team members are available. Note that if the team is participating with same product as Sangam'20, it cannot participate with a new product. A team is allowed to participate with one product only. The teams need to register in the link given below as well. Upload the previously submitted abstract in the given form.
