About Sangam - Hardware

Sangam, an intra-collegiate technical competition, is a platform for engineering enthusiasts to gather and work on an idea and endeavour relentlessly to make it come alive. It is a forum for innovation and technological brilliance. It is an opportunity to build the future.

Phase Overview

Sangam is divided into three phases, each with their own set of criteria:

Phase I - Abstract Submission

The deadline for abstract submission is Jan 23. The result must be presentable during Pragyan as a working model or a demonstration. Projects will be judged based on novelty, significance to the problem, relevance to the theme and other factors. Shortlisted candidates will be notified after the abstracts are reviewed.

Timeline: January 23rd 2023

Phase II - Mentorship

Teams whose projects are selected will have to find a mentor of their choice to guide them through the project. There will be two progress reviews. The first will be a presentation in front of a panel with all the team members, and the second will be presenting the final working model.

Timeline: February 20th - March 17th 2023

Phase III - Exhibiting during Pragyan

The final working project will be presented during Pragyan ‘23 and judged by domain experts and industry veterans through an interactive session between them and the participants. The winning team will be decided by adding up the checkpoint scores and final scores during Pragyan ‘23. The students should present their projects with integrated business models for the scoring process.

Problem Statement

Healthcare and Life Sciences

Medical technology has grown to grant people lives almost twice as much as a mere century ago. Yet, despite the boost in health care technology, we cannot protect ourselves from everything indefinitely. It has matured and will continue to, our minds being the catalyst. Despite a surge over the last few decades, we still face a multitude of challenges in the field of medicine. this theme can include topics like intelligent monitoring systems, controlling the spread of epidemics, assistance to disabled and old-age people, biomedical research, solutions for prevention and cure of diseases like cancer and tuberculosis by early-stage detection, and affordable medical services for everyone.

Energy and Environment

I: Waste Management
With increasing populations, new sustainability and recycling goals and improved technology departments, consumers are becoming conscious to become more efficient in managing solid waste. The improvement of the waste collection service and, in general, the achievement of more efficient management of waste is one of the main challenges that we face, especially due to the population growth. Thus, smart waste management is a key factor in today's world.

II: Renewable Technologies
Future energy needs in both urban and rural areas can be largely met by renewable energy sources. Given the rising knowledge of the negative environmental effects of fossil-based generating, the development and use of renewable energy should be prioritised. Globally, the demand for the creation of renewable energy is rising quickly. The sustainability of the energy sectors in developed and developing nations alike depends on the widespread usage of renewable energy. Building energy performance is being improved, and environmental consequences are being minimised, in large part due to renewable energy technologies.

Space Technologyy

“The march of technology expands the space of possibility around us, but how we explore that space is up to us.”
Innovative technologies are incorporated into space manufacturing to enhance space services and products. The space industry is advancing with the introduction of robotics, 3D printing, and light-based manufacturing. Due to improvements in manufacturing techniques, large space constructions, reusable launch vehicles, space shuttles, and satellite sensors are now a reality.

The competition is exclusively for NITT students.
A team must have 4 to 6 members.
The project idea must fit into only one of the three themes.
A single individual may not be a part of more than one team.
Plagiarism will strictly not be encouraged.
The decision of the judges is deemed final and binding.
