Build the Bridge

This event is for those who have noticed the constructional aspects of a bridge while moving above it, or have thought about how engineers will decide the type of bridge to be constructed based on the landforms, load and other constraints. Design a bridge using the given civil engineering software adhering to the given problem statement within the given time period.

Prize Money INR 15,000

Date for Round-1: 14^th March 2020

Date for Round-2: 15^th March 2020

Venue: Orion

Round 1:

This round will be held during Pragyan at NIT Trichy.
This round will consist of a quiz based on basic concepts of civil engineering.
From this round participants will be shortlisted to Round 2.

Round 2:

The participants will be given a problem statement on the spot.
They will have to design a bridge in STAAD PRO within the given time period.
Participants need to bring their own laptop with the software installed.

Maximum of three members per team.
The participants should adhere to the problem statement.
Any deviation from it will lead to disqualification of the team.
Judges’ decision will be final.

Judging criteria:

Cost-effectiveness of the solution.
Design parameters of the bridge.

Will be provided during event.

1) Are cross-college teams allowed?
Yes

2) Are interdepartmental teams allowed?
Yes

3) Are UG-PG collaborations allowed?
No. Only UG students are allowed to participate in the event.
